The Kenyan coast is most commonly known for its beautiful beaches. Clear water and white sand make it the perfect getaway for thousands of sun-seeking tourists every year. However, beneath this dreamy exterior lies stories of hundreds of women stuck in modern day slavery. Sex trafficking is the third largest international crime industry in the world, just after illegal drugs and arms trafficking (CNN. Freedom Project 2015). As a bustling port to the nations and growing hub for vacationing foreigners, the Kenyan coast is becoming an ever-increasing breeding ground for this injustice.
During our times there, building relationship with the community, we found a great need for education and simple opportunities to help set girls free from the industry.
